The H.P. Heckendorf Community Service Award is open to anyone—regardless of age—who has displayed exemplary acts of community service and/or volunteerism in our communities. Recipients of this award will receive a commemorative plaque, a monetary award of $250, and a check for matching funds to the charity of their choice.
This year’s award will be presented on March 11th, 2025, at our 63rd Annual Membership Meeting.
To be considered, nominations must be submitted on or before January 29th, 2025, to N.E.W. Credit Union. Submissions after this deadline will not be accepted.
Applications can be submitted by email to asknew@newcu.org or by mail/in person at our corporate office at 301 Jackson St, Oconto Falls.
N.E.W. Credit Union staff and Board Members are not eligible for nomination.
N.E.W. Credit Union’s H.P. Heckendorf Community Service Award was created to honor the memory and the impact Harold P. Heckendorf made in the communities we serve.
Heckendorf served on N.E.W. Credit Union’s Board of Directors for 20 years, most of which as our chairman. In addition to his community service through the credit union, he was a dedicated member of his church and an active participant in our Oconto Falls community. Harold P. Heckendorf embodied the mission and vision of N.E.W. Credit Union.
At N.E.W. Credit Union, we proudly serve our communities and work to provide all of our members with opportunities to succeed. We hope, through this award, to honor Heckendorf’s impact and highlight others who want to do the same.
If you would like to submit a nomination for this award, complete the following steps:
Complete the “Required Information” section provided so we are able to contact your or your nominee.
Submit a 300-word essay (Times New Roman font, double-spaced, 12-point font) explaining why you are nominating them and how they have made an impact on our communities.
Once you have completed and gathered this information, please submit all documentation by mail, in person, or through email to asknew@newcu.org.
N.E.W Credit Union will inform the selected recipient directly and will communicate with them before the award ceremony. Recipients will receive their commemorative plaque, monetary award, and matching charity check at the ceremony. The award ceremony will take place during N.E.W. In memory of Method Vizelka, a long-time volunteer and board member, N.E.W. Credit Union offers the Method Vizelka Memorial Scholarship to support college-bound seniors.
